Blog Entry for Photography, Leroy James.

The Instigation of Procrastination.

Time for me to finally jump on the band wagon of the always procrastinating, but ever so interesting...photographers blog.

It's one of those things that will always sit at the back of our minds forgotten about. Then late one night we'll be laying in bed,  relishing in the completion of a huge job that's finally been delivered, and it hits us like a tonne of bricks. The blog needs updating. Next thing we know it's 2am and we're half way through writing our latest entry. So much for that good nights rest.

For 2015, one of my key goals is to take on more personal projects for the year. Projects that are less about the commercial work, and more about the passion and artistic side of why I became a photographer in the first place. I feel having these projects helps a person to grow and push ideas that aren't often presented to them in a commercial environment.

My personal example would be landscapes and fine art photography. Both of these areas (with fine art being a very broad spectrum) are unfortunately very difficult to make ends meet on alone. Many artists, and not just photographers,  will often make a living off styles that appeal more to others, while working on their own work in their spare time. And although you can question there motive for doing something they may not like, I feel that as long as they're in the general field that their interests lay, then good for them. I for one would much rather be a wedding and portrait photographer than working my nine to five office job on level 16 with views of another slab of concrete. But hey, that's just not the job for me. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who would hate being a photographer too.

Anyway, back on track.

So where I was going with these personal projects, is because I'll be focusing on them more this coming year, that should in turn give me a reason to actually update my blog on a semi-regular basis. Hurray for everyone!
